In 1972 the Beetle received a facelift: Panorama windschield, new backlights (Elefantenfüsse = feets of a elephant)
The Beetle was built until 1978 in Germany and until 2003 in Mexico. The Beetle was imported from Mexico to Europe until 1985.
Only the convertible was built in Germany until 1980, it was built at the Karmann factory.
