In 1970 the Beetle received a major facelift: Increased wheelbase, increased length of the front, new trunk lid.
In 1971: size of the rear window increased, more louvers on the engine hood.
The Beetle was built until 1978 in Germany and until 2003 in Mexico. The Beetle was imported from Mexico to Europe until 1985.
