The EA97 was planned as a successor of the VW Beetle at first. Later, it was changed to a new model between the
VW Beetle and the VW Type 3 (1500/1600).  The EA97 was very close to a serial production. Therefore a pre-production series of 200 was built.
But after all it was stopped because it would have been to close to the Type 3 and the Beetle.
