After a series of prorotypes,
the first "Volkswagen" developed 1938 to its final design.
The Nazis planned to sell it for only 990 RM
as "KdF-Wagen" (Kraft durch Freude = strength through joy).
Due to the WWII the production never started.
This is the oldest existing Volkswagen Cabriolet. It has the
same powertrain as the early prototypes.
The Cabriolet was developed by Porsche in Stuttgart and
built by the Coachbuilder Autenrieth in Darmstadt.
The Design of the Cabriolet matches the design of the later
Cabriolet built by Karmann/Osnabrück.
