The Wartburg 353 succeeded the Wartburg 311/312, at first with the same engine.
The 353 was built between 1966 and 1988 In 1988 the car received a new engine, a
license production of a Volkswagen engine. After the end of the GDR in 1990,
the production lasted one more year.
