Smart
The Company was founded as Micro Compact Car (MCC) AG in 1994 by Nicolas G. Hayek. It was a subsidiary of
Mercedes-Benz and the SMH SA (Sociéte Suisse de Microélectronique et d'Horlogerie). In 1998, the MCC became 100%
subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz, and in 2002 the company was renamed to Smart GmbH.
