The Porsche 993 succeeded the Porsche 964. The 993 was still based on the original 1964 Porsche 964.
And it was the last Porsche with an air-cooled engine. For many enthusiasts, it was the last "real" Porsche.
The 993 Cup was a close-to-production race car, built for its own racing series.
