The Porsche 993 succeeded the Porsche 964. The 993 was still based on the original 1964 Porsche 964.
And it was the last Porsche with an air-cooled engine. For many enthusiasts, it was the last "real" Porsche.
Officially, there was no Porsche 993 Speedster. However, two were built by Porsche: one for
Ferdinand Alexander Porsche (for his 60th anniversary) and one for Jerry Seinfeld.
A third one was made (this one), based on a wrecked Porsche 964 and with parts of the new Porsche 993. It was converted
into a Speedster body in 1993/1994. Later, the car was modified with some new body parts and a new engine.
