The Porsche 964 succeeded the 911 built between 1973 and 1989. It was an upgraded version
of its predecessor, so it was still based on the first Porsche 911 made in 1964.
Porsche did not sell the 911 Carrera RS in the USA, because they thought, it was too radically modified for the US-market.
But the US-customers demanded for a RS model, hence Porsche created the RS America.
