Thought as a successor of the VW-Porsche 914, but Volkswagen dropped out and Porsche developed the 924 on its own.
The 924 had a 4-cylinder engine from Volkswagen.
This and the simple body was the reason that the customer couldn't accept it as a true Porsche.
The 924 Carrera GTS was based on the homologation model 924 Carrera GT. The GTS was built for road races.
