The 917 was based on the Porsche 908 and was built for the International Championship of Makes.
The 1970 Porsche 917 was developed from the 1969 917 and now dominating its competitors. In 1970
Porsche won for the first time the 24Hours of LeMans with it.
The 917/30 was developed for the north American CanAm-series. Perhaps the most powerful race car ever built.
