The first Mercedes-Benz 300SL was a racing prototype, first shown in 1952. These prototypes
were used in several races like the Mille Miglia or the Carrera Mexicana.
Later, from 1954 the 300SL became famous for its gullwing doors, today it is one of the
most famous Mercedes-Benz ever built. The gullwing 300SL was replaced by the 300SL roadster in 1957.
