The Mercedes-Benz 320 (W142) was the successor to the Mercedes-Benz 290 (W18). In 1938 the engine
displacement was increase (3.2-litre -> 3.4-litre) to keep the engine output at the same level,
the gasoline quality was getting poorer in that time.
