Karmann was founded in 1901 by Wilhelm Karmann. The company mainly worked as a coachbuilder,
until 1945 for several German companys, after WWII mainly for Volkswagen. The most famous car built by Karmann
was the Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia, a car based on the VW Beetle and built between 1955 and 1973.
Most of the Volkswagen convertibles were built at the Karmann factorys. Later Karmann accepted the orders
from other comapnys, too, to built cars for them. Today, Karmann is fighting against a bankruptcy.
