S.S./Jaguar
In 1922, William Lyons founded the "Standard Sidecars" company, and since 1927 it produced the first carbodies, since
1929 on Standard chassis. Two years later they combined "Standard" and "Swallow" to S.S.. After 1945 the company was renamed to Jaguar.
In 1960 the company bought the "Daimler Motor Company".
Jaguar merged with BMC (later BMLC) in 1966. 18 years later
Jaguar was independent again, until 1989, when the Ford
Motor Company bought the brand. In 2008 the Indian Tata took
over Jaguar. |
