Isuzu

In 1916 the Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding and Engineering Co., Ltd. and Tokyo Gas and Electric Industrial Co. planed to built automobiles. Two years later, the first car was built, in cooperation with Wolseley. In 1949 the company was renamed to "Isuzu" (= "fifty bells"). Since the 1970s Isuzu works together with GM, which hold 49% of the Isuzu stocks for a while. Today, Isuzu mainly builds commercial vehicles.
