The Daf 44 was the first new model since the introduction of the Daf 600 in 1959.
It was technically related to the Daf 33, but with a larger body and a larger engine.
The Daf 55 was identical to the Daf 44, but with an engine from Renault. For
the first time a Daf had a 4-cylinder engine.
