The 02-Series had the same engines as the BMW 1600/1800/2000 "new class" and
a similar suspension, but a smaller and lighter 2door body. Due to its
small and light bodys, the 02-Series were very fast and sporty cars,
so they were very successful and established the good reputation for sporty cars from BMW.
