AWS means "Autowerke Walter Schätzle" (= car factory Walter Schätzle). The AWS-Company
built a compact city-car in 1971 with many advanced ideas to built the car simple and easy to repair.
It was based on the Glas Goggomobil, sharing the chassis and the engine. But the car was to expensive
even more expensive than a VW Beetle in that time. Therefore, AWS went bankrupt in 1974.
